Marilyn Mejia-Peña, LCSW, joined FUF in 2006 as a PS-MAPP trainer and FCSW and in 2010 accepted the position of Supervising Foster Care Social Worker. She received her BSW and MSW from CSULB before obtaining her LCSW in 2007. She has been working with children and families impacted by trauma and/or involved in the child welfare system for over 17 years. Her experience includes working for Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) as a CSW, conducting individual, family and group therapy for families impacted by domestic violence, and as a clinical supervisor for MFTI’s and ASW’s that provide therapeutic services to victims of crime. In her valued commitment to the social work profession she has also served as a Field Instructor for BSW and MSW-Interns throughout her career. She is a certified Triple-P trainer and has conducted parenting classes at FUF and in the community for the SHORTSTOP Juvenile Anger Management (JAM) program through the Long Beach Bar Foundation and currently for Long Beach Gang Reduction Intervention and Prevention (GRIP) program.
